Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (APC)

APC, related to familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and the pair of MSH2 and MLH1 genes that have been linked to hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC)

  • Analysis of the entire APC gene
  • Analysis of exons 15e to 15i of APC gene
  • Analysis of exons 5 to 15d of APC gene
  • Attenuated FAP
  • Analysis of exons 1b to 4 and 15j to 15w of APC gene
  • Interrogation for specific mutation (relatives)

Genetic analysis

  • A short family history must be taken. Any information regarding the patient's family history is important and quickens the analysis completion.
  • 2 x 3ml of peripheral blood in EDTA anticoagulant are required. The sample is either sent to BioGenomica laboratory on the same day the blood is being drawn, or can be stored for a longer time period in the freezer (-20 °C) until its postage.   • Genetic reports are handed to the attending physician in less than eight (8) calendar weeks.
